Motorcycle headlights without a battery? - motorcycle headlights

I custom bikes w / lights, but the battery does not see. (Cafe Racer style style hide, etc.) or run directly from the alternator / generator / magneto?
Obviously, this would kick or a blow just started and the light only when the engine is running. But how is it done?
